Chelsea's Premier League win this season not only handed the club their first title in five years, but it also earned the Stamford Bridge outfit £99million in total prize money - a record amount for a club in a single campaign.

Jose Mourinho's men clinched the league crown with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in early May and eventually went on to finish eight points clear of their nearest rivals Manchester City.

The Blues' success gave Mourinho his third league title as Chelsea manager, and the first of his second spell in charge of the west London side, but also helped the club take in £99million in prize money.

According to The Mail, the Blues earned a total of £98,999,554 this term, which consisted of several different payments.

Chelsea received £24.9million in "merit" cash for finishing top of the league, £19.98million in "facility fees" for appearing in 25 live TV games plus an equal share of money from the domestic TV deal (nearly £22million), overseas TV deals (£27.8million) and commercial income from league sponsors (£4.4million).

City, meanwhile, earned the second highest amount of prize money after the runners-up got £98.5million while rivals Manchester United were third with £96.8million in earnings despite finishing below Arsenal in fourth position.

The Gunners themselves made £96.5million this season due to United having more of their games, and the most in the top-flight, shown on live TV with 27 compared to Arsenal's 25.
