Chelsea handed triple fitness boost ahead of Real Madrid Champions League trip

Chelsea have been handed a triple injury boost ahead of their Champions League quarter-final trip to face Real Madrid.

The Blues were handed a big scare on the weekend when both N'Golo Kante and Mason Mount were ruled out of the 1-0 loss at Wolves, but both trained at the club's Cobham base on Monday.

It's a huge boost for interim manager Frank Lampard after a dismal first game back in charge and ahead of arguably the toughest away trip on the continent.

Also on show was Thiago Silva, who has been sidelined since an injury in the loss at Tottenham on February 26.

The veteran centre-back will not be fit for the trip to Santiago Bernabeu, but could make the squad for the return leg next week.

A club statement read: "Raheem Sterling, Reece James, N'Golo Kante and Mason Mount all trained, with N'Golo and Mason missing the trip to Wolves altogether.

"Thiago Silva also returned to the grass. The Brazilian has missed the last seven games due to a knee ligament injury and has not played for the Blues since the end of February."
