Chelsea: Marcos Alonso’s agent spotted in Barcelona as cut-price transfer talks continue

Marcos Alonso is nearing a move to Barcelona after the Chelsea player’s agent was spotted entering the club’s offices for transfer talks.

Fali Ramdani, who represents the Spanish left-back plus the likes of Leroy Sane and Blaugrana outcast Miralem Pjanic, met with director of football Mateu Alemany on Monday afternoon in images caught by local newspaper Sport.

It is expected that an agreement will be struck between Chelsea and Barcelona for a deal worth in the region of £8million following Marc Cucurella’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel confirmed after the weekend win over Everton that Marcos Alonso had asked to be left out of the squad for the trip to Goodison Park.

The manager said: “He tries to leave and we agreed to this switch, and that’s why it would have never made sense to have him on the pitch today. It’s the right thing to do.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has explained why he snubbed a move to Barcelona to sign a new contract with the club.

“After the Club World Cup, where I became the only player to ever win every trophy, [I felt] it was the time to go back to Spain,” he stated.

“But then everything happened with this club. I wanted to stay committed. I never did anything against my club. We had private conversations where I said everything.”
