Chelsea: Charlie Webster set to extend contract before joining Heerenveen on loan

Nizaar Kinsella21 June 2023

Charlie Webster is set to join Dutch side Heerenveen on loan.

The midfielder will likely extend his contract at Chelsea, currently due to expire next summer, before making the temporary move to the Eredivisie.

Borussia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven hold a long-term interest in the 19-year-old but the club have taken the decision to extend his current deal.

It will be a busy summer for Chelsea as Mauricio Pochettino begins his rebuild.

Greek giants POAK are interested in signing defender Baba Rahman, who spent time on loan with the club in 2021.

The Blues, however, are in talks to end the Ghana international’s contract a year early.

Arsenal have agreed a £65m deal to sign Kai Havertz while Mateo Kovacic will soon join Manchester City.

Pochettino has already welcomed Christopher Nkunku to Stamford Bridge this summer as the rebuild begins following what was a dreadful season for the club.
