Chelsea manager Antonio Conte barks out orders to his players at training session ahead of Liverpool friendly

Standard Sport29 July 2016

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been barking out the orders at the Blues' latest training session in the USA this evening.

The Italian coach took charge of the west Londoners earlier in the summer and has wasted little time introducing his methods to the club's players.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has revealed Conte has the squad working on new tactics ahead of the start of the season and the 46-year-old is not shy about getting his ideas across.

The players appeared to be relaxed en route to the training ground, with Diego Costa and Pedro taking time out to sign supporters' shirts. But the hard work soon began.

Standard Sport's Simon Johnson watched Chelsea's latest open training session at UCLA and insisted one voice above all others could be heard on the pitch.

Conte was "heavily involved" as the 61-year-old, who was a combative midfielder during his playing career, marshalled Chelsea's players through a series of drills.

Meanwhile, Costa scored a superb goal courtesy of a finish into the top corner that drew a round applause from the small audience in attendance.

The Blues face familiar foes Liverpool on Thursday morning before two further pre-season friendlies against Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Conte's first competitive game in charge is against West Ham at Stamford Bridge on August 13 and he looks certain to be a vocal presence on the touchline.
