Chelsea offer couldn't stimulate me like Bayern Munich could, says new signing Niklas Sule

New Bayern Munich signing Niklas Sule says he never had any doubts over turning down interest from Chelsea to move to the German champions.

Chelsea had identified Sule as a possible target for this summer earlier in the season but were beaten to the punch by Bayern, who agreed a £17.5million deal for the German centre-back in January. He will complete his move when the transfer window opens.

Sule will be joined at the Allianz Arena by Hoffenheim team-mate Sebastian Rudy as the German giants continue to pick off the Bundesliga’s top talent.

And the 21-year-old centre-back revealed that he didn’t take long to decide Bayern, not Chelsea, were the club for him.

“There was interest from Chelsea, but Bayern are among the top three clubs in the world so I didn't have to think about it long,” Sule told Bild.

“Going to England would have come too early for me. No club from England could have stimulated me as the offer from Bayern did.”

With Liverpool set to snatch another of their targets in Virgil van Dijk Standard Sport reported yesterday that Chelsea are considering reviving their interest in Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci. Roma’s Antonio Rudiger is another option for the champions.
