Chelsea outcast Danny Drinkwater has joined Turkish side Kasimpasa on loan until the end of this season in a desperate bid to salvage his career.

Drinkwater has played just 23 times for Chelsea since joining them for £35million from Leicester in 2017.

The 30-year-old midfielder has not played for the Blues since the 2018 Community Shield and is eager to play competitive football again.

Drinkwater had agreed to move to Kasimpasa at the start of January but the move was held up by Covid guidelines and travel restrictions.

But he had a medical in Turkey over the weekend and has been given the green light to join Kasimpasa, who are currently 15th in the Turkish Super Lig.

Chelsea are set to pay a substantial amount of Drinkwater’s wages while he is in Turkey.

Drinkwater played a key role in Leicester’s title fairytale in 2016 alongside Jamie Vardy, N'Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez, but his career has nosedived at Chelsea.
