Juan Cuadrado will not seek a move away from Chelsea after being reassured by the club he will have a significant role to play next season.

Cuadrado struggled to make an impact after joining from Fiorentina for £26.1m in January and started just four games.

The 27-year-old ended the campaign feeling unsure over his future at Stamford Bridge, prompting Inter Milan, Juventus and Atletico Madrid to explore the possibility of signing him on loan with a view to buy.

Cuadrado's agent Alessandro Lucci flew to London last week for talks with Chelsea about his client's status and has been convinced that the winger will have a much bigger part to play.

Lucci said: "Juan is fine at Chelsea for now, we'll see about later. He's happy, and the club is happy with him, so for now we're comfortable."

Cuadrado was one of Colombia's better performers as they reached the Quarter Finals of the Copa America and is now on holiday in his homeland.

Standard Sport understands manager Jose Mourinho, who had already spoken of his desire to keep Cuadrado last month, sees him as key to helping his international team-mate Radamel Falcao settle on and off the pitch when he starts training with them on their pre-season tour of North America in a fortnight.

Falcao has already agreed to a loan switch from Monaco, which is expected to be made official in the next few days.
