PSG have received a major boost in their preparations for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Chelsea as both Marco Verratti and Blaise Matuidi have been deemed fit enough to join the matchday squad.
The duo remain fitness doubts for the match at Stamford Bridge having both been rested for Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Montpellier.
Verratti has managed just 45 minutes of action since the first leg against Chelsea in mid-February, with manager Laurent Blanc admitted last week that the Italian playmaker, who has started just two games since mid-January, was facing a “tricky” situation in his bid to recover.
Chelsea prepare for Wednesday’s clash needing to overturn a 2-1 deficit from the Parc des Princes with John Obi Mikel’s goal at the end of the first half a potential crucial lifeline for Guus Hiddink’s side.

The absence of either Matuidi or Verratti from the tie would be a significant boost to Chelsea’s hopes; whilst Thiago Motta and Adrien Rabiot are able deputies Blanc’s first-choice pairing were impressive in victory last month.
Hiddink is likely to once more be without captain John Terry, still yet to recover from the hamstring injury he picked up against Newcastle last month, but Diego Costa is expected to be fit after being rested for Saturday’s draw with Stoke.
