Antonio Conte was "surprised" to be asked whether he felt Marcos Alonso had fouled Hector Bellerin in the build-up to the wing-back's goal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, saying in England such contact is "normal".

Alonso handed Chelsea a 1-0 lead over Arsenal with his header in the 13th minute, which came after the Spaniard raced into the box and out-jumped the defender to head the ball in.

Bellerin immediately went down following contact from Alonso before subsequently being substituted for Gabriel, with replays showing Alonso appeared to catch the full-back's head with his elbow.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insisted after the game, which finished 3-1 to Chelsea, that Alonso had fouled Bellerin but Conte disagreed - saying in another country, the contact could have been perceived to be a foul but not in England.

When asked if Alonso had fouled Bellerin in the build-up to his goal at Stamford Bridge, Conte said: "Alonso jumped more than Bellerin.

"To hear this in England, I must be surprised that this is a foul. In Italy, maybe.

"I understand [that Wenger thought it was a foul]. For me, it was the correct decision. It's normal in England.

"In another country maybe we can have another conversation but, here, I don't think to write about this."
