Cristiano Ronaldo has tipped Eden Hazard to follow in his footsteps and win the Uefa Mens' Player of the Year award.

The Real Madrid star picked up the award on Thursday, taking his tally to three of the six on offer since the award was established in 2010-11.

Hazard, who was lively but ineffective during Chelsea Under-23s' 3-0 loss to Everton on Friday, is currently sidelined but was the Blues' talisman in last season's record-breaking Premier League title win.

Ronaldo, 31, feels the Belgian is among the next crop in line to take his throne, along with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Neymar and Europe's most promising youngsters.

"I see some with great potential: Asensio, Mbappe, Neymar, Dembele, Hazard, Rashford ... and some others," the Daily Mail reports him as saying.

"In the next generation there are at least 10 players with very, very great potential."

Ronaldo, though, does not expect Chelsea or any of the other four English teams in this season's Champions League to lift the trophy in Kiev next year.

When asked who will challenge in the competition, Ronaldo said: "The teams are the same every year - Real, Barca, Bayern, Paris, Juve.

"I do not expect any surprise this year. Four of these teams will be in the semi-finals."
