Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish says Manchester United could eventually get their money back on Wilfried Zaha, despite his club initially buying him back for a cut-price fee.

Zaha has returned to Palace on a permanent deal after failing to make an impact at United in the two years since moving for an initial £10million.

Palace paid a reported £3m for Zaha, who signed a five-and-a-half year contract, but Parish says the deal includes a sell-on fee and appearance add-ons.

“There is a big sell-on fee for United so we will be very happy if eventually they get their money back,” he said. “That would mean he has been very successful for us. It was clear there probably was not a future for him at United so we worked with them to do a deal that worked for both clubs.

“Hopefully, we can get him back on track. He has had more or less a season out when he came to us and it takes time to get used to the game again. But he is finding his feet and has been very effective for us in spurts.”

Zaha joins Yaya Sanogo, Jordon Mutch, Shola Ameobi, Pape Souare and Lee Chung-yong in signing for Palace during the transfer window.

“It has been a good transfer window for us but we have got to turn that into victories,” Parish told talkSPORT.”
