Scott Dann has urged Crystal Palace to replace Yannick Bolasie with a “quality player” if he leaves before the transfer deadline.
The 27-year-old is a target for Everton and Palace are keen to secure more than £25million for the forward to fund a deal for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke.
Alan Pardew decided not to start Bolasie in Saturday’s Premier League opener against West Brom but the DR Congo international received a rapturous welcome from the Selhurst Park crowd when he was brought on as a second-half substitute.
Bolasie immediately added impetus to Palace’s attack but Salomon Rondon’s glancing header consigned the south Londoners to a 1-0 defeat, and Dann is adamant Pardew will need to replace his team-mate’s power if he does join Ronald Koeman’s side.
“Every club want to keep their best players but sometimes, depending on the money, you can’t help that,” said the Palace skipper.
“Sometimes players move on. It is swings and roundabouts. If someone like Yannick was to leave then we would have to replace him with another quality player.
“He’s a top player. He’s someone who we’ve counted on - he’s been a really good player for this club.
“I’m sure if he does go, he’ll do well wherever he goes and I’m sure if he stays he’ll do just as good a job for us as he’s done in the past.
“Football players leave whether you like it or not. You have to get on with it and replace them.”
