Crystal Palace plan fresh contract talks with Alan Pardew

Feel the deal: Palace want to extend Pardew stay
Giuseppe Muro2 February 2016

Crystal Palace are planning more contract talks with Alan Pardew to reward him for the progress the club have made since he took over early last year.

Initial discussions were held in December but put on hold during the transfer window.

Pardew has two and a half years remaining on his deal and is keen to commit his long-term future to the club. Palace were in the relegation zone when Pardew moved from Newcastle and they host Bournemouth tonight sitting 11th in Premier League table.

The 54-year-old believes his team can challenge for Europe and he wants to make history at Palace by winning the FA Cup this season. Palace have never won a major trophy but Pardew believes they can change that.

He hopes new signing Emmanuel Adebayor can help his side finish the season strongly and the 31-year-old is in line to make his debut tonight.

Adebayor is likely to start on the bench but Pardew says Palace supporters should be excited about the prospect of seeing him in a red and blue shirt. “If I was a Palace fan I would be overjoyed,” he said. “If we get him anywhere near his best, he is a level above most players who have ever played for this club.

“He has looked terrific on the training ground. He has really trained hard and well this week. He has not played any football though.”

American investors Joshua Harris and David Blitzer will be at Selhurst Park tonight and will be hoping to see Palace end their run of six league games without a win.

Transfer Window: London's big deals

Palace decided not to sell Dwight Gayle yesterday but the 25-year-old, who now looks set to sign a new four-year contract, is out of tonight’s game with a hamstring injury.

The only business at Selhurst Park on transfer deadline day was 20-year-old defender Jerome Binnom-Williams joining Leyton Orient on loan but Pardew was happy. He said: “We have really only made one change (in the window). Patrick Bamford left and Ade has come in. I think that is an improvement for us.”
