Crystal Palace made it back-to-back Premier League wins with a battling victory in horrible conditions at Newcastle.

Newcastle took the lead inside two minutes as Callum Wilson brought down the ball and laid off for Jonjo Shelvey to fire home a brilliant opener from the edge of the box.

Palace regained their composure before drawing level thanks to a powerful strike from Jairo Riedewald which took a slight deflection off Ciaran Clark. The Eagles took the lead minutes later when Gary Cahill raced onto a wonderful free-kick from Ebere Eze to head home his first goal for the club.

Here is how Jack Rosser rated the Eagles...

Crystal Palace player ratings

Vicente Guaita 6

Despite Newcastle's endless pressure didn't actually have too much to do. Nothing he could have done to stop the opener.

Nathaniel Clyne 7

Slightly at fault for Newcastle's goal but made a wonderful late challenge to deny the hosts a leveller on the break in the second half.

Also caught out in the build up to Newcastle's goal but recovered well as Newcastle put the pressure on. Heroic block from Allan Saint-Maximin.

Gary Cahill 7

Wonderful run and header to score his first Palace goal.

Patrick van Aanholt 6

Got into good positions going forward down the left but passing needed to be far sharper to have a real impact.

Jordan Ayew 6

Worked tirelessly to get Palace forward when the hosts were piling the pressure on.

Jairo Riedewald 7

Had a chance to make an impact in midfield, delivered a belting strike to cancel out Shelvey's opener.

Luka Milivojevic 6

Decent showing, rather silly challenge in the second half when Newcastle were pushing for a second.

Ebere Eze 7

Brilliant delivery to set up Cahill for what turned out to be the winner. Kept the ball well late on.

Wilfried Zaha 6

Didn't get the chance to show too much before being forced off injured just before the hour mark. Will be a big concern for Roy Hodgson.

Michy Batshuayi 6

Good movement to free up space for Cahill to score his goal. Didn't offer much else.

Substitues

Andros Townsend 6

Made good runs to drag Palace forward after replacing Zaha. Should have made it three late on.

Christian Benteke 6

Did well to hold the ball up and take the pressure off those in defence.
