Jordan Ayew says Crystal Palace are not getting carried away, despite another shock result against one of the big six.
Palace’s dramatic 2-2 draw at Manchester City on Saturday leaves Roy Hodgson’s side just four points off the top six, but staying up remains the focus in south London.
Palace went 1-0 up through Cenk Tosun before a late Sergio Aguero brace looked to have robbed them of another memorable trip to the Etihad, but Wilfried Zaha’s low cross went in off Fernandinho for a 90th-minute leveller.
Despite all their injury woes, Palace are now unbeaten in five Premier League matches, but Ayew said: “Whether we have new faces or not, the most important thing for us is to get to 40 points.”
Ayew has shouldered the goalscoring burden so far this season, but with Tosun getting up and running quickly, the Ghanaian hopes the Turkey striker can give the whole squad a lift.
“It was a dream start for him, so congratulations,” said Ayew. “It is positive for the club and all the players.”
