Newcastle United have signed Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle for a fee of £10m.
The 25-year-old has signed a five-year deal at St. James' Park after struggling for regular game time at Selhurst Park last season.
"It's a dream come true to be at a big club like this," he told the club's official website.
"Newcastle has a massive fan base and a great history so it is amazing to be here.
"I can't wait to get started, prove myself and score the goals that take us back up to the Premier League. It's where this Club belongs," he added.
Manager Rafa Benitez is delighted to have secured the striker's services as the club attempts to return to the top tier at the first time of asking.
"Dwight is a great player, a proven goalscorer, and it is fantastic news that he has joined us," said Benitez.
"He has a big personality, a lot of energy and pace. He is a good finisher also, so he will add goals to our squad, for sure.
"He knows English football well, too, and that is important in the Championship," insisted the Spaniard.
Gayle's move to the North East leaves Palace manager Alan Pardew with just Connor Wickham and Fraizer Campbell to choose from up front ahead of the new season.
