Christian Benteke is relishing a reunion with his former club Liverpool on Saturday.

Benteke will come up against Liverpool for the first time since his £27million move to Crystal Palace.

The Belgium forward had a difficult time at Liverpool, scoring just 10 goals in 43 games before being sold by Jurgen Klopp.

Benteke is getting his career back on track with Palace and will be looking to get one over on Liverpool when they play at Selhurst Park.

“I look forward to every game,” he said. “Not just because it is against Liverpool. But, of course, I am going to be happy because I will play against my old team-mates.”

Palace’s 3-1 defeat at Leicester City on Saturday saw them drop out of the Premier League’s top 10.

Boss Alan Pardew insisted Palace played better than the scoreline suggested, while midfielder James McArthur admitted “soft goals” cost them.

“We did alright,” added McArthur. “We were in control for spells, our passing was a lot better and we had good chances. They’ve been clinical and on our behalf it is soft goals.

“There are a lot of positives to take but the negatives are the goals we conceded.”
