Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is deciding whether to hand Wayne Hennessey his first start since he was charged by the FA for appearing to make a Nazi salute.

Hennessey was charged last month after he was pictured seemingly making the gesture in a photo posted on Instagram by his German team-mate Max Meyer.

The goalkeeper denied the allegations.

The 32-year-old said he was shouting at the person taking the picture and “put my hand over my mouth to make the sound carry”.

Hennessey was given more time to respond to the charge. If found guilty, he could face a minimum five-match ban.

Hodgson has rotated his goalkeepers in the previous rounds of the FA Cup.

Hennessey would have started in the last round against Tottenham at Selhurst Park, but he was injured and Julian Speroni came in and kept a clean sheet as the Eagles won 2-0 to set up Sunday’s fifth-round clash at Doncaster.

Vincente Guaita, who was signed on a free from Getafe last summer, is the Palace No1 in the Premier League.

Lucas Perri was signed on loan last month and all four goalkeepers have trained this week ahead of the match.

The Palace squad had yesterday off and Hodgson was set to decide on his team today.

Palace have Cheikhou Kouyate back from an ankle injury but James Tomkins is still out with a calf problem. Bakary Sako is cup-tied having played for West Brom in the third round.
