David Moyes says West Ham were “massive” as they put Sevilla out of the Europa League to reach the quarter-finals.

Hammers fans have latched onto the “West Ham are massive” mantra throughout this remarkable season and Moyes was happy to join in after one of the best nights in the club's recent history.

Tomas Soucek's first-half goal brought West Ham level with the six-time winners on aggregate before Andriy Yarmolenko, days after scoring upon his return from compassionate leave, sent the Hammers into the last eight with his extra-time strike.

“I've heard we're really massive,” said Moyes.

“Tonight we were massive in the way we played, we played in great fashion. It was a really good night for us.”

Moyes had called for the West Ham fans to reflect the atmosphere from Seville last week and was delighted with the noise and backing of the crowd.

“The atmosphere was brilliant,” said Moyes.

“We can host a Champions League final, it is a great venue. The chance to play really big games, it was a beautiful night here and our players were bang at it and never let them off the hook all night.”
