Dean Moxey's glimmer of hope as Crystal Palace deals fall through

Dean Moxey's arrival in a £400,000 move from Derby was a bright spot on a frustrating deadline day for Crystal Palace.

The left-back is in the squad for tonight's game at Watford and is relieved the deal has been done.

Moxey said: "I was told about it on Thursday night and have just been waiting for it to go through. We've got a great chance of getting out of trouble and I'm looking forward to this new challenge at Palace."

Yesterday, this column revealed that Palace would try to sign defender Damien Delaney and striker Jay Simpson.

However, the deals didn't come off as Ipswich snubbed an £800,000 double bid for Delaney and midfielder David Norris, while Hull were demanding Neil Danns in exchange for Simpson, even though he is a free agent at the end of the season.
