Dele Alli is expected to sign a new long-term contract with Tottenham.

Alli, 22, is poised to follow in the footsteps of Harry Kane and Mauricio Pochettino by committing his future to the club having indicated his desire to stay in north London, reaching an agreement over new contract terms.

Kieran Trippier, Heung-min Son, Erik Lamela and Davinson Sanchez are among the other members of the Spurs squad to have signed new long-term contracts in 2018.

Alli has not featured since September due to a hamstring injury, missing four league matches and Tottenham’s entire Champions League campaign to date.

There is hope however the England international will be ready to feature against Manchester City at Wembley on Monday night having returned to training.

"It is good news but we need to careful," Pochettino told reporters on Friday. "We are happy that he started (to train) today with the group. We hope he will be available for Monday but we are not sure if he'll be in the squad."
