Antonio Conte has handed Chelsea star Eden Hazard his first start of the season in their EFL Cup Third Round tie with Nottingham Forest.

The Belgian, who broke his ankle on international duty off the back of the Blues’ title winning season, has been restricted to appearances off the bench so far this term.

Summer signing Antonio Rudiger comes into the side, with David Luiz suspended after his dismissal for a foul on Arsenal’s Sead Kolasinac on Sunday.

Brazilian wing-back Kenedy, whose Chelsea career had looked over after some ill-advised social media posts during the club’s pre-season tour of Asia, is handed a starting place, while fellow youngster Charly Musonda is named behind his compatriot Michy Batshuayi.

Here is the full Chelsea team: Caballero; Rudiger, Christensen, Cahill (C); Zappacosta, Bakayoko, Fabregas, Kenedy; Musonda, Hazard; Batshuayi

While former Chelsea man Michael Mancienne captains the Nottingham Forest side:

Henderson; Lichaj, Mancienne (C), Osborn, Fox; Dowell, Hobbs, Bouchalakis, Walker; Cummings, Worrall
