Eric Dier has urged Tottenham to stop talking about "irrelevant" shot statistics after being held to a third successive Premier League draw.

Spurs were riding high after beating Manchester City at the start of the month but their progress has stalled due to draws against West Brom, Bournemouth and Leicester City.

Vincent Janssen's penalty appeared to put Mauricio Pochettino's side on course for victory at the expense of the champions on Saturday only for Ahmed Musa to cancel out the Dutchman's effort.

The north Londoners dominated for long periods and had a host of chances to win the game courtesy of a total of 22 shots on goal compared to the Foxes' sum of just six.

But Dier says Spurs should not be hung up on such flattering statistics as they attempts to get back to winning ways - and keep pace with the sides above them in the table.

"We’ve got to stop talking about it and start doing something about it,” he told Tottenham's official website.

“It’s irrelevant to talk about it now. Every chance they had came from us and we have to limit the mistakes we make, because it led to their chances.

“We’ll keep playing, keep improving the way we play and try to get better and try to start winning games because we’re drawing too many.”

Spurs have failed to win any of their last five outings but Dier is adamant an unproductive run of form has not started to affect his teammates' confidence.

“No, I don’t think so because we’re playing well and it’s just a matter of time before it all comes together.

"We need to kill off games but this is football, we know what we have to do, we just have to do it,” he added.
