This summer's feast of football finally got underway when Euro 2016 kicked off in style on Friday night.

Tournament hosts France prepared to face Romania at Stade de France, and all eyes were on Didier Deschamps's side as they attempted to lay down a marker in Group A.

But Friday night wasn't only about the football, as Uefa staged an opening ceremony prior to kick-off with superstar DJ David Guetta headlining proceedings.

The French producer performed his tournament anthem 'This One's For You' alongside Swedish singer-songwriter Zara Larsson while 600 choreographed dancers added to the spectacle.

Performers wore an array of eclectic costumes - with outfits including giant lips and lollipops among others - while hundreds undertook a can-can routine before before Patrouille de France jets streaked across the sky to leave trails of red, white and blue smoke above Stade de France.
