Aaron Ramsey’s greatest-ever night in a Welsh shirt was tinged with disappointment as he picked up a yellow card that will rule him out on his country’s Euro 2016 semi-final.

Wales came back from an early deficit to defeat Belgium 3-1 and secure their best-ever tournament. Ramsey played a key role in the victory, providing assists for Ashley Williams' equaliser and Hal Robson-Kanu's goal that put the Welsh ahead.

The Arsenal midfielder has been one of Wales’ outstanding performers throughout the tournament but fell foul of Uefa rules that mandate a one-match ban for any player booked twice in the first five games of Euro 2016.

That means that Ramsey will not feature in the semi-final against Portugal on July 6 at Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon.

On 74 minutes Ramsey picked up his second yellow of the campaign in frustrating circumstances, handling the ball in a needless position as he tried to block Marouane Fellaini's pass. The 25-year-old was visibly angry with himself in the preceding moments, knowing that he will miss the most important football match in his country’s history.

Tottenham defender Ben Davies will also be unavailable to Chris Coleman as he prepares to take on Cristiano Ronaldo and company.
