Former Manchester United boss David Moyes made an appearance Anfield on Sunday, despite getting the chop from club executives on Tuesday.

Betting company Paddy Power unveiled a statue of the unemployed Scot, accompanied by a plaque which lauded 'his services to Liverpool Football Club.'

The 11 foot bronze figure comes after Liverpool fans earlier this season unfurled a banner which read 'Moyes is a football genius'.

The beleaguered former boss last week sat through what turned out to be his final game in the Manchester United dugout, with a man dressed as the Grim Reaper in the seats behind him.

Both publicity stunts are bound to bring a smile to the faces of rival supporters, as United begin their search for a new manager.
