Fulham will wait until the end of the season to open contract talks with head coach Slavisa Jokanovic.

The club want to offer Jokanovic a new deal to ward off potential suitors for the Serb, who has taken Fulham to the brink of promotion to the Premier League after an unbeaten run of 21 matches in the Championship.

The 49-year-old has one year remaining on his contract and Fulham are ready to offer him an improved deal this summer in anticipation of interest in him. But, for now, Jokanovic and his coaching staff are focused on the race for the Premier League and securing automatic promotion.

Fulham dropped to third in the Championship after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford on Saturday. They are one point behind Cardiff, who have a game in hand.

Jokanovic takes the club to Millwall on Friday night and is desperate to avoid the lottery of the play-offs again this season.

He has transformed Fulham since he took over in December 2015 and has built a team that are ready to get the club into the top flight for the first time since relegation in 2013.
