Claudio Ranieri says facing Chelsea and Leicester as Fulham manager will be emotional, but his sole focus will be to avoid relegation.

Ranieri got off to winning ways by beating Southampton on his Cottagers dugout debut and now faces his two former Premier League clubs in the space four days.

He travels to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, a team he guided to second during a four-year spell before a famous 19-month spell at Leicester saw him win the title against the odds.

"Chelsea introduced me to English football, while with Leicester we managed to achieve something extraordinary," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Those will be two emotional games, but I have to think about the current position of my club."

He added: "It will be a tough way to the safety, but I am confident we will do it.

"We have a good team, we just have to get better at defending and improve our mentality. I have made myself clear with my players, I want at team that runs and fights."

Fulham is Ranieri's third job in English football and it was his successor at his first job who got in touch first upon his appointment.

He said: "Jose Mourinho was the first one to call me. He is a great man, a great coach and a great character."
