Gabriel Magalhaes undergoes Arsenal medical as Gunners close in on £25m transfer

Gabriel Magalhaes has undergone a medical in London ahead of his move to Arsenal.

The Gunners have agreed to pay around £25million to bring the Lille defender to the Emirates and he has agreed personal terms on a long-term contract, which is thought to be for five years.

Gabriel will have to quarantine for 14 days before training with his new team-mates with current UK guidelines stipulating that arrivals from France must self-isolate due to the threat of Covid-19.

But it is understood the Brazilian was able to undergo a medical at a location in London away from the club’s training ground on Monday.

As well as Arsenal, Napoli made a concrete approach and there was late interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsenal have won the race however with Gabriel won over by head coach Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu’s pitch on why he should join their project in north London.
