Gary Cahill says he has no concerns about his future at Crystal Palace despite being out of contract this summer, but believes some team-mates will want answers sooner rather than later.

Almost half of the Palace squad, as well as manager Roy Hodgson and his staff, are out of contract at the end of this season with a shake-up planned by chairman Steve Parish and sporting director Dougie Freedman.

Cahill has proved a bargain buy for Palace and, while having struggled with injury this season, is still more than capable of commanding a Premier League defence at the age of 35.

The ex-England international, who earned 61 caps for the Three Lions, is relaxed about his future and has not considered retiring come the end of the season.

"I am totally relaxed about the situation myself," Cahill told Standard Sport.

"I am in a different situation to some in terms of their age. I am just looking to consistently try and perform at the level I want to be at. I have been back the last two games where I would like to be and that is the goal until the end of the season. Then see what happens. I am very calm about the situation, it is not too much of a stress at the moment.

"There are a lot out of contract and I am sure there are going to be changes made in the summer. I'm sure we'll find out that news, hopefully soon really so the lads can get sorted on their futures.

"By the end of the season, as long as I feel as fit as I do now, feel as hungry to win games, go out and perform and train as I do now then for sure I'll carry on playing. "

Cahill has been in and out of the Palace side this season due to injury but put in another impressive showing alongside Cheikhou Kouyate in Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Fulham.

While Palace were tight at the back, they failed to muster a shot on target against a side in the bottom three, sparking more frustration with Hodgson's approach from supporters and pundits.

"The disappointment for us is that we want to be on the front foot a bit more and create a bit more in the game," said Cahill. "Defensively we were very good which is pleasing but we felt it was a good opportunity for us."
