Brentford boss Thomas Frank makes surprise Erling Haaland claim over star striker Ivan Toney

Bees wouldn’t swap their frontman for Man City’s record-breaking goalscorer

Brentford manager Thomas Frank insists he would not swap Ivan Toney for Erling Haaland.

Toney has scored 20 Premier League goals this season, 15 fewer than Haaland after the Manchester City goal-machine struck for the 35th time against West Ham on Wednesday.

Haaland has 51 goals in 45 games for City and is now just 12 short of equalling Dixie Dean's all-time English record of 63 goals in a top-flight season.

But Frank believes Toney would score over 25 Premier League goals if he was playing for a top-four club and insists he would not swap him for Haaland.

“Of course not,” said Frank, whose side face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

“If Ivan was playing in a top-four club, he would score 25-plus goals. I’m convinced about that.

“I’m very happy he is playing for us and not another club and I think it is remarkable what he has done.”
