Harry Redknapp: Bonus is not major issue

Harry Redknapp insists he deserves a big bonus if he keeps Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League but is adamant safeguarding the future of the club will be a greater reward.

Although it is understood Redknapp will get £1million if QPR stay up, he is more interested in turning the club into a major force.

QPR plan to move to a new training ground and build a new stadium but Premier League football is vital to their long-term goals. Redknapp said: “Anyone who goes to a club gets a bonus, a bonus for staying up, winning things etc. . . Every manager will have that and if I keep them up, I’ll deserve it! The real reward would be the future of the club. If we stay up I’d look to build a team, so we wouldn’t be in this position.

“I’m aware [former manager] Mark Hughes said the same thing in the summer so you never know but there is a lot to look forward to.”
