Hayden Mullins is honoured to be leading Watford while they look for a new manager following the dismissal of Quique Sanchez Flores, but remains in the dark over how long his interim tenure could last.
Mullins has been drafted in from his role as manager of the Under-23s side after the decision was made to relieve Flores of his duties just 85 days after making his return.
Watford, bottom of the table thanks to Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Southampton, face high-flying Leicester on Wednesday night as they search for just a second win of the season.
The Hornets, usually very swift in their managerial appointments, declared that an appointment was "imminent" when they announced Flores's departure on Sunday, but Mullins could still be in charge at the weekend .
"I haven't been told," he told the media when asked for a timeframe. "I work for the football club so it is an absolute honour for me to lead the team on Wednesday.
"It is just an ongoing process, it is part of a club appointment that they are looking for. I'm not part of that, the role I've been given tomorrow is a fantastic role for me personally and it is one I am really looking forward to."
Having had just two days to prepare for the trip to face Brendan Rodgers's side, Mullins says he is not thinking further ahead.
"A lot of my focus in the last couple of days have just been on the team, we've not had long to prepare," he continued. "There have been loads of bits and pieces we've had to go through over the last two days."
