Huddersfield 0 Crystal Palace 2: Eagles secure huge win in the snow but injured Wilfried Zaha forced off

1/29

Crystal Palace took the upper hand in the relegation fight, battling through wind and snow to take all three points at Huddersfield Town, though the loss of Wilfried Zaha will trouble Roy Hodgson once more.

With Zaha and Mamadou Sakho returning to the starting eleven, Palace had the perfect opportunity to put the pressure on relegation rivals with Southampton and West Ham not playing in the Premier League until they face each other at the end of the month.

Hodgson’s side, with Christian Benteke reinstated as a lone striker with the absence of Alexander Sorloth through injury, went on the front foot from the off.

However, it was a defender who put the Eagles ahead. After throwing his body on the line time and again at Stamford Bridge, James Tomkins found himself unmarked to poke home from close range.

The bolstered back line kept the hosts at bay, before Luka Milivojevic was handed the chance to double the lead in the second half.

After Andros Townsend was brought down on the left by Zanka, the Serbian stepped up and converted from 12-yards.

Zaha limping off with minutes to go, though, is a sight no Crystal Palace fan will have wanted to see as they continue to fight the drop.
