Hugo Lloris: It’s hard to accept snub at Spurs

Hugo Lloris has admitted he is finding life tough at Tottenham as he continues to be overlooked by Andre Villas-Boas in the Premier League.

Lloris has started only one League match since joining Spurs for £12million from Lyon in the summer, with Brad Friedel chosen for the other 10. Lloris’s other appearances have been confined to the Europa League and the Capital One Cup.

“Yes, it’s a bit tough,” said the France goalkeeper last night. “It’s a difficult period, which is also difficult to accept, but these types of questions need to be put to the manager. I will stay professional.

“I’m training, I’m doing the maximum, and the manager makes his choices. When you’re a competitor, you just want to be on the pitch.”

Lloris was in fine form for France as they beat Italy 2-1 in a friendly in Parma last night but he may have to accept a return to the bench in the derby against Arsenal on Saturday if Villas-Boas sticks to the selection policy he has used this season.

Lloris is one of four experienced goalkeepers at the club, along with Friedel, Carlo Cudicini and Heurelho Gomes. The 41-year-old Friedel’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
