I'm not a real Liverpool hero yet, says Luis Suarez

11 April 2012

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has already become a crowd favourite since his January arrival but accepts he has a long way to go before proving himself "a real hero".

The Uruguay international has scored two goals in five Barclays Premier League matches and was instrumental in the 3-1 victory over Manchester United at Anfield earlier this month.

The 24-year-old has been an instant hit with fans starved of excitement this season.

"I've only been here just over a month and a half and it's good to see the fans are happy," he told LFC Weekly.

"I came here to work hard for the team and to do my absolute best.

"I think the fans at this club play a major role - bigger than at some other clubs. But there are a lot of games and there is a lot of time to go before I am a real hero. It's too early for that."
