Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has ruled out returning to the Premier League on a loan deal during the MLS off-season after saying he needs rest.
The ex-England international has endured an injury-hit first season for New York City, and only made his debut for the team in August after spending last season on-loan at Manchester City despite having signed for the MLS side last summer.
And Lampard has now said he does not want to seek a similar loan move back to the English top-flight in the coming months after insisting he needs to manage his body well after his time out on the sidelines with injury.
"I wish I could have not had the injuries, but every player has to accept that injuries come along sometimes," the 37-year-old said.
"My aim now is to manage myself well for next season, to finish this season on a high, have some breaks at times, but keep ticking over, have a really good pre-season and throw everything into next year."
He added: "I can't talk highly enough about playing over here.
"I look forward to having a full year, cracking in next year and hopefully starting the season well, getting into the play-offs, which I think we should be as a club, and having a real crack at it."
Lampard ended his 13-year stay at Chelsea in 2014, but departed the club as the Blues' all-time leading goalscorer before joining New York City.
The midfielder then spent the 2014/15 campaign on loan at Chelsea's Premier League rivals City where he scored eight goals - including one against his former side - in all competitions.
