Bradford manager Stuart McCall says he was "close to clocking" the Millwall fans who invaded the Wembley pitch at the end of Saturday's League One play-off final.

The Lions sealed promotion to the Championship courtesy of Steve Morison's late winner, which sparked scenes of jubilant in the Londoners' end of England's national stadium.

But a minority of supporters let such excitement get the better of them at full-time and made their way onto the playing surface.

Some fans could be seen goading Bradford's dejected players and staff while others taunted rival supporters, whose side have not competed in the second tier of English football since 2004.

McCall has questioned the stadium ground staff's response to the situation and suggested physical confrontation were close to taking place.

"They've got to learn - everyone in the whole place knew the fans were coming on," said the Bantams boss.

"I've no idea why fans want to come on and goad. I was close to clocking a couple - that's not sour grapes.

"10-15 minutes later an army of stewards come on [at the halfway line] but where were they before? Stay in your own half don't come over and start goading."
