Return: Olivier Giroud injured himself in the closing stages of Arsenal's draw with Everton in August
Standard Sport13 November 2014

Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud is back in Arsenal training after successfully recovering from a fractured tibia.

The 28-year-old suffered the injury in the closing stages of the Gunners 2-2 draw with Everton and underwent surgery days later.

Arsene Wenger revealed in late August his striker would not return until next year, but the Frenchman was back among the squad at London Colney on Thursday.

No caution: Nacho Monreal and Olivier Giroud vie for possession

Giroud has not featured for Arsenal since the deadline day arrival of Danny Welbeck from Manchester United, and could face a battle to start once he regains match fitness, but Wenger said last month the pair could start together.

"Welbeck and [Giroud] can play together in the centre or separately," the Arsenal boss said.

But Wenger admitted he may have to force Welbeck out wide if he wants to accommodate both in his starting XI.

"Welbeck also played on one side to Manchester United. Welbeck played in the same team with Rooney and van Persie. He can play down the sides."
