Wilshere has not scored in any of his previous 27 England appearances before taking the field in Slovenia. He would walk off having netted two of three goals that saw Roy Hodgson’s side claim a dramatic 3-2 win to take a stranglehold on Group E in the race for Euro 2016 qualification.
England legend Gary Lineker claimed the Arsenal man’s strikes were among the best ever scored for the country.
Lineker told BBC Radio 5 live: "Jack Wilshere scored two breathtaking goals. I'm sure he hit the same square of the net on both occasions.
"Let's put it this way - if we had a top 10 he'd be in it."

Wilshere cleary enjoyed wearing the familiar red for his country on Sunday.
Speaking after the match, the 23-year-old admitted that, while he was pleased to open his international account, he needed to score more goals.

"It's obviously nice to get my first goals for England, they have been a long time coming,” said Wilshere.
“I probably wouldn't have had a shot for the second one if I hadn't already scored, but after I'd scored one I had more confidence.”
