Jamie Carragher's special mention for Fernando Torres

11 April 2012

Jamie Carragher hailed the "special" talents of Fernando Torres after the striker scored on his first start in almost two months.

The Spain international swept in the winner in the 2-1 victory over Blackburn at Anfield yesterday to make it 13 goals in 17 Premier League appearances.

Torres is still Liverpool's top scorer even though he has been sidelined by a knee operation.

Vice-captain Carragher said: "It goes without saying how much we have missed him. Fernando's the kind of special player who will make a difference. He's a big lad, who is right up for the fight."

Torres could face France on Wednesday and Carragher said: "It would be wrong to rely on just one man. After all, you never know, he could come back injured off international duty. Please God, that doesn't happen. We are a much better team with him."
