Javier Hernandez looks certain to miss David Moyes’ first game as West Ham manager at Watford on Sunday with a hamstring injury.

Hernandez suffered the injury playing for Mexico against Belgium in Brussels on Friday. He returned to West Ham for a scan.

Whilst the injury is not thought to be serious, the 29-year-old striker will not have recovered in time for Sunday’s match and could also miss the home match against Leicester on Friday week.

Hernandez’s first team opportunities were limited when Moyes was manager at Manchester United but the Scot said: “If he’s scoring goals and working hard, he will be in. It will be the same for the rest of the squad.”
