John Terry: I’m ready to play

Chelsea captain John Terry has declared he has fully recovered from his knee problem and is ready to return against Brentford.

Terry was left on the bench in Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Sparta Prague last night but did a vigorous work-out on the pitch afterwards to test his fitness.

The 32-year-old missed the match against Wigan on Saturday after suffering more pain in the knee which he injured against Liverpool in November and kept him on the sidelines for two months.

But when asked how he is, Terry (above) replied: “I am feeling good and strong. I am ready to face Brentford on Sunday.”

After last night’s game Rafa Benitez said Terry had suffered a slight setback during the week and although he was now okay the interim head coach added: “We have to manage the situation.”

However, without Terry, Chelsea’s defence has not looked solid in recent weeks. Last night’s victory over the Czechs in Prague was just the third time the Blues have managed to keep a clean sheet in 13 games.
