Chelsea captain John Terry admitted Burnley's shock FA Cup exit to non-league Lincoln gave the Premier League leaders a reminder not to suffer the same fate against Wolves.

Pedro and Diego Costa scored the second half goals to put Chelsea in the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win at Molineux.

But the result from Turf Moor, where the Clarets went down 1-0 to National League leaders Lincoln, proved a timely warning of what to avoid.

Terry told BT Sport: "It was kind of a wake-up call that we didn't need."

The centre-half revealed it had been a struggle for the likes of him and midfielder Cesc Fabregas to get in the Chelsea side, with both becoming fringe players under manager Antonio Conte.

The Italian made seven changes to face Wolves and Terry said: "The team are playing well. It's difficult for us to back in. All we can do as a group of players is be there for the ones that are playing and push them. We have to make sure the manager knows we are available."

The chance of winning a sixth FA Cup is something which appeals to Terry.

He added: "It's a massive part of the club's history. I've won it five times. The main thing today was to come here, play well and get ourselves into the next round."

Fabregas admitted Wolves had been on top from the start of the game, with George Saville hitting the post after five minutes.

He said: "That first 15-20 minutes they were on top of us. It's not easy to come to these places. We knew that we had to be at our best and I think it was a professional performance.

"I want to play, obviously I want to play. But we want to win. There is a great group and a great togetherness."
