Jonathan Woodgate rules out playing at World Cup

Cloud nine: Jonathan Wodgate celebrates with Jermain Defoe

Jonathan Woodgate fears he has "no chance" of playing for England at next year's World Cup because he does not train enough.

The Tottenham centre-half has won two caps under Fabio Capello but has not featured for England for over a year and has been hampered by a groin injury this season.

"I've got no chance," said Woodgate. "I don't train all the time and Fabio Capello likes people who train every day."

One player Capello has warmed to is Jermain Defoe, who hit five goals in the 9-1 win against Wigan on Sunday.

"JD can do anything he wants to do," said Woodgate. "Fabio Capello seems to have a lot of faith in him and he's been outstanding, he can make a massive impact in the World Cup."
