Jose Mourinho's house bid is sign of return to London

Special return? Jose Mourinho could be managing in London next season
11 April 2012

Jose Mourinho looks increasingly certain to be managing back in London next season after being spotted house hunting in the capital yesterday.

Standard Sport exclusively revealed earlier this month that Mourinho favoured a return to London if he leaves Real Madrid as expected this summer, with former club Chelsea and Tottenham set to fight it out for his services.

Current Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is under intense pressure to keep his job at Stamford Bridge and has admitted on Portuguese radio that he could be sacked by owner Roman Abramovich.

His comments were made prior to the 3-0 win over Bolton on Saturday which has bought him some time, although Chelsea's second leg of their last 16 tie against Napoli in two weeks' time is believed to be crucial to his future.

They currently trail 3-1 from the first match in Naples, but Villas-Boas is still expected to guide the team to the quarter finals.

Chelsea have considered hiring former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez for the rest of the season if Villas-Boas is fired, but don't see him as a long-term appointment and would prefer to hire someone like Mourinho or Barcelona's Pep Guardiola in the summer.

Standard Sport also previously revealed that the relationship between Mourinho, who was sacked in 2007 after winning five major trophies in three years at Chelsea, and Abramovich has significantly improved in recent months.

However, he is also high on Tottenham's list of candidates to replace Harry Redknapp should he leave to take charge of England.
