Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has played down reports suggesting he could be in line to replace Louis van Gaal at Manchester United after insisting he is only focusing on the immediate future.

Current Red Devils coach Van Gaal revealed in the summer he expects to leave United when his contract with the club finishes in 2017 to ensure he doesn't break a promise to his wife about his retirement date.

Several names have since been linked with a move to Old Trafford as a potential replacement for Van Gaal, with Juve boss Allegri being one of them.

But the Italian, who steered the Serie A giants to the double as well as the Champions League final last season, has said he is not thinking about anything other than leading Juve to more success in the future.

"I have a contract running until 2017," he said.

"I'm happy here and I'm focused on Juventus' objectives.

"They are much more important than these rumours."
