Jamie Vardy went level with Harry Kane in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot on Sunday, although the Leicester striker's red card against West Ham could hand a decisive edge to the Tottenham striker and Manchester City rival Sergio Aguero.

Vardy scored his 22nd goal of the season with a coolly taken finish against West Ham at the King Power Stadium, though his second-half dismissal for a second bookable offence for simulation saw Leicester fall apart.

Andy Carroll scored from the penalty spot before Aaron Cresswell netted a sublime long-range finish to carve the title race wide open.

But substitute Carroll then clattered into Jeff Schlupp in the box late on, and Leonardo Ulloa equalised from the spot to earn Leicester a valuable point with four games remaining.

Up next for Leicester are Swansea at the King Power next Sunday, although Vardy will miss out due to suspension.

Vardy's absence means the Leicester striker will only have three more league games at most to become top scorer, while Kane and Aguero both have five more games to claim the personal prize.

Aguero is one goal behind Kane and Vardy with 21, but has a strong chance of landing the Golden Boot given he has reached his tally in just 26 appearances - eight fewer than Vardy, and seven fewer than Kane.

The Argentina international hit a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge to earn a 3-0 win over 10-man Chelsea on Saturday, who had Thibaut Courtois sent off for conceding a penalty against Fernandinho late on.

Despite his form, Aguero missed out on the PFA Player of the Year nominations last week.

Vardy and Kane will contest the main award along with Leicester duo N'Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez as well as West Ham's Dimitri Payet and Arsenal's Mesut Ozil.

Kane has also been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, but will have to edge out Spurs team-mate Dele Alli to land that prize.
