Leicester might be sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table but the Foxes' players clearly aren't household names yet.

Danny Drinkwater and four of his teammates went out to celebrate the midfielder's birthday on Saturday night - hours after beating Watford - but were refused entry to Mayfair nightclub Drama Park Lane.

Bouncers failed to recognise the Leicester quartet, who spent a full 45 minutes trying to argue their case for admission.

Drinkwater cut a frustrated figure as he made a series of phone calls while Andy King, Ben Hamer and Matty James waited in the queue.

To make matters worse Tottenham players Hugo Lloris, Nacer Chadli and Eric Dier were allowed straight into the venue to see DJ Antoine Sigaud.

An onlooker told the Daily Star: "You had to feel sorry for the Leicester lads.

"They might be bossing it on the pitch but they looked Second Division when it comes to clubbing. It looked like no-one outside the club recognised them.

"They seemed OK about it until the Spurs lads showed up and walked straight in.

"Then there were a few moans of: 'You can't be serious'."

The Leicester players eventually conceded defeat, flagged down a taxi and left. At least they're still five up on Spurs in the title race.
